Video: A Spotlight on People Analytics

As part of MSH’s latest video blog series, I’m exploring the different technologies that are disrupting and reshaping the talent acquisition industry as we know it. In the segment above, I take a deep dive into how people analytics are changing the way we recruit and attract top talent.

Right now recruitment is still very much more an art than a science, but with the advancement of technology—and specifically people analytics—that is quickly changing. As the accuracy and consistency of data improves, and we better understand which advanced metrics are the most reliable, this potentially affects both recruitment and the broader HR space.

Tactics such as sentiment analysis and organizational network analysis will help companies make more informed decisions around whether employees are likely to leave, and where people best fit within an organization. From the talent acquisition perspective, I imagine we’ll see a lot more administration of behavioral and cognitive assessments to better match candidates with the right role, company, and culture.

With greater visibility into the data, HR departments will be able to truly quantify the cost of a bad hire and the effectiveness of their external partners—which will in turn allow the best candidates and external partners to rise to the top. People analytics will even allow companies to identify which managers in the organization are strongest in hiring and developing their people versus those who need intervention from internal or external talent partners. The possibilities are limitless—and they will change the way we all view employee data and make effective personnel decisions.
